DNA DAY Project

Happy DNA Day! I am so glad that we decided to celebrate this historical day in the world of Biology. In this blog, I want you to answer the following questions:
1. What is the Human Genome Project?
2. Why is the Human Genome Project an important discovery in Biology?
3. Would you recommend that I do this project again next year?

Cell Reproduction Unit Projects

For this unit on Cell Reproduction, I assigned a hands-on project for each section. In Section 1, you completed a karyotype of a normal and abnormal individual. In Section 2, you made a folding model of the process of mitosis. Finally, in Section 3, you put together a podcast of meiosis.  

Please respond to the following questions:

1. Which project did you like the most and why?

2. Which project did you like the least and why?

3. Why do you think it is important to learn about the reproduction of cells?

Be sure to respond to each of the three questions. This blog will be worth 3 points. 

Cell Projects

This will be worth five points: (answer the each of the following)
1. If you had to do the cell project over again, what would you do differently?
2. If you were giving advice to someone that has my class for next year, what could you tell them to do to get the best grade possible on the cell project?
3. List at least three things that you will never forget about cells after doing this project. Include why you will never forget them.

Organelle Project

List the name of your organelle, its nickname, and the reason why you gave it that nickname. This will be worth 2 points.

Organic Compound Project

What is your opinion about doing the organic compound project? Do you think that it will help you for the unit test? What are some ways to improve this project?
